BEST DAY EVER!!
What a fantastic day spent at RedBeard Historic Bakery at their bread baking workshop. From the moment I walked in and was greeted by the awesome staff I knew that this was the best birthday present ever! Over a coffee and a scrumptious sourdough fruit bun I chatted to the other participants about our experiences of breadmaking to date (failures and successes!) as we waited to meet Redbeard's owner and baking guru, John Reid.
John's passion for the art of sourdough bread baking is infectious and his willingness to pass on his knowledge and recipes so that everyone can experience the joy of creating loaves of mouth watering bread to share with family and friends is a breath of fresh air. By the end of the day (well actually within the first 5 mins) I was hooked!
We measured, kneaded, shaped and baked so much bread in Redbeard's amazing Scotch Oven and chatted more about what we had learnt over a fantastic lunch. We left loaded up with loaves of bread and supplies (including our own leaven to nurture in the coming weeks). I dropped off loaves to friends on my way home as sharing the joy of my day made it all the more sweet.
I can't wait until my leaven is ready to go so I can start producing my own sourdough miracles!

Don't just think about doing Redbeard's Bread Baking Workshop - just do it, you won't regret it!!!

Thank you I enjoyed this class. Loved the ambiance of Redbeard Bakery, the lunch and of course the wild ferment class. Especially all the fabulous loaves that came home. I am up and running with my home baking.
